Method: the 30% affordability guide
The calculator uses monthly net income × 0.30 for the recommended rent, monthly net income × 0.35 for a stretch figure, and income − rent − fixed expenses for the remaining budget.
Worked Dublin example
With €3,200 net income and €900 fixed expenses, the 30% rent guide is €960. That leaves €1,340 after rent and the entered expenses.
How to interpret it
Treat the result as a planning ceiling, not an approval decision. It does not model tax, irregular costs, savings goals, landlord criteria, household income splits, or changes in bills.
